Speaking & Facilitation
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to speak to business leaders, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, students and professional associations about leadership, communications and the changing landscape of media.
Whether teaching a university classroom, facilitating a board retreat or leading an executive media training session, my goal is always the same: to provide practical insights that help people think differently, communicate more effectively and lead with greater confidence.
I enjoy presentations that encourage conversation as much as instruction, drawing on more than three decades of experience working with executives, elected officials, community leaders and organizations navigating complex challenges.
Arizona State University Faculty Associate – The Business and Future of Journalism
As a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, I taught The Business and Future of Journalism, a course examining how technological disruption, changing consumer behavior and evolving business models continue to reshape journalism and the media industry.
The course challenged students to think beyond traditional reporting, exploring innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, audience engagement and the economic realities influencing the future of news. Drawing from my own experience as a communications executive, publisher and entrepreneur, I connected classroom concepts to real-world challenges facing today's media organizations.
Executive Media Training
Effective media interviews require more than polished talking points — they require preparation, confidence and the ability to communicate with authenticity under pressure.
Over the years, I've coached CEOs, nonprofit executives, elected officials, physicians, university leaders and subject-matter experts in preparing for television, radio, print and digital interviews. Sessions are customized to each organization's needs and often include simulated interviews, message development, crisis scenarios and on-camera feedback.
Participants leave with practical techniques they can immediately apply, whether speaking with a reporter, addressing employees or presenting before a board.
Leadership & Communications Presentations
I regularly present to organizations on topics related to leadership, communications and organizational strategy, with an emphasis on helping leaders communicate with clarity while navigating change and complexity.
Popular presentation topics include:
The Future of Journalism and Media
Executive Communications in an Era of Constant Change
Building Organizational Trust Through Communication
Crisis Communications and Reputation Management
Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations
Strategic Storytelling for Organizations
Public Affairs and Community Engagement
Building Meaningful Partnerships
Communications Lessons from Real-World Leadership
Every presentation is tailored to the audience and designed to be practical, engaging and immediately applicable.
Facilitation & Strategic Conversations
Some of my most rewarding work doesn't happen from a stage — it happens around a conference table.
I frequently facilitate executive retreats, board discussions, strategic planning sessions and leadership workshops where the objective isn't simply to present information, but to help organizations work through important decisions, build alignment and create momentum.
Whether the goal is developing a strategic vision, navigating organizational change or strengthening board governance, I help create productive conversations that lead to meaningful action.
